Coldplay opens the new decade atop Billboard's Adult Alternative Songs airplay chart, as "Orphans" rises 2-1 on the Jan. 4, 2020-dated survey.
"Orphans" is Coldplay's 13th No. 1, tying the band with U2 for the most leaders in the chart's 24-year history.
U2 and Coldplay were previously tied for the record between December 2015 and October 2017, before the former's "You're the Best Thing About Me" ruled for seven weeks.

"Orphans" is Coldplay's first No. 1 since "Adventure of a Lifetime," which led for six weeks beginning in December 2015.
Adult Alternative Songs is the third airplay list that "Orphans" has crowned. It concurrently rules Alternative Songs and the all-rock-format Rock Airplay chart for a third week each, with the song topping the latter ranking with 8.6 million audience impressions in the tracking week, according to Nielsen Music. The track also holds at its No. 29 high on Adult Pop Songs.
"Orphans" is the lead single from Coldplay's eighth studio album, Everyday Life, which debuted at No. 1 on Top Rock Albums and No. 7 on the Billboard 200 dated Dec. 7.
